For those of you who are like me and need instant gratification, you
might want to check out Zachary Music, which is located in Canada.
Alex there has a 10 month payment plan which is based ONLY on the
price of the instrument. There is no interest, no fees, nothing. I
just bought a getzen from him (it arrived yesterday) and have been
very happy with his service. Not only did he work out the 10-month
payment plan with me, but he matched the price I was getting at a
"web" competitor. (Like me, He is a Getzen fan)

I received the trumpet (was out of town until yesterday), and I am
very pleased with it. It really is a nice trumpet. The gold brass bell
is VERY nice. It is one of the "cosmetic" features I noticed right off
the bat, and which I esp. like.
You can pass this along to others as a customer "testimonial" -- I
don't see much difference if any between this horn and some of the
ones I looked over in local shops that bore the Yamaha or Bach
Strativarius signatures. It's just as beautiful, just as well built,
and sounds and plays just as well. A two-tone horn of Yamaha or Bach
variety was always in the $1000+ range in all the stores I went to.

I am not a beginner (more of a middle aged living room warrior), but I
am looking around for a good quality valve trombone at an affordable
price (the over $3000 I was quoted for the Bach Stad was a bit
extreme). I assume you have suggestions.

Your site has offered valuable insight into owning versus renting and
quality of the instrument. I tend to agree that a child takes more
pride in what is hers and the quality is important as well. We have a
very top Baldwin piano, as we did want the best for her, and our
daughter is very musically inclined. Can I get back to you in January?
At that time we will only want the best and we will go to you as your
expertise surpasses your competitor's. Not being knowledgeable in wind
instruments, we will rely heavily on the person we will buy from and,
though we haven't met, I like your approach and we will buy from you.
What I tell kids and their parents is get quality, you won't regret
it. If you are a serious high school student then go all out and get a
top of the line horn. My dad bought a Bach model 37 Strad in 1974 for
something like $1200, and im playing it in high school now. It is an
incredible horn -- still works beautifully. I just sent it away
recently to get all dents repaired and a black lacquer job -- it
should last another 25 years. The way I see it, if you're gonna buy an
instrument, go all out & pay for something good quality -- you (or
your kids) will thank you down the road.

Band parents need to be aware that those companies applying rent
toward instrument purchase deduct it from the MSRP(Manufacturer's
Suggested Retail Price), not from the actual instrument's selling
price, which is usually 25 to 40 percent less than the MSRP. Combine
that with your program of billing in 10 equal payments, the quality of
the instruments and you have the best value in the music business. I

We are located in New Jersey, and unfortunately, my son starts school
next week (where did the summer go?). I like your 10-month payment
plan; it is certainly unique. After searching on e-bay for quite some
time for a used horn, I new, or close to new from a reputable source,
rather than gamble, I am ready to abandon that idea, and purchase
something good. I checked out your site and saw what you had to offer.

Alex, I received my new clarinet yesterday it looks and plays great.
It's a quality mouthpiece also. I just got through practicing for
about an hour, it was hard to put it down but it's getting late. The
lettering is in gold and I think it looks great, not cheesy at all.
The photo is deceiving. In the photo it looks like the lettering is
white and much larger. The finish looks like its made from wood and
the tone is very clear. Please tell me what material the clarinet is

you that I absolutely love. My instructor, who is principal
clarinetist in the Charlotte philharmonic orchestra is also is

Dear Alex: I received the Black Nickel Tenor
Sax in perfect condition. (Thanks for the careful packing) Well I have
to tell you something. A friend of mine that works in a music store in
Toledo Ohio came over to see it. He brought his Selmer Super 80 with
him and his own mouthpiece. He played both of them in front of me, as
I'm a beginner was amazed at the better sound the Zeus had then the
Selmer he owned. ( So Was He ). Then I asked him to Play Harlem
Nocturne for me on both saxes. (This is a Piece to bring tears to the
eyes if played right) But I was to go into the back room, and he would
not tell me which he would play first.. When he finished the piece
twice. I said I like the sound much better on the second one. Guess
What??? It was the Zeus!!! Which left me happy and him going to eBay
to sell his Selmer. I gave him your Phone number. So don't be
surprised if you hear from him soon. I know I'm just learning. but My
grand father once told me. If your gonna learn to drive Don't start
with a Junker you will make too many mistakes. Start with a Cadillac.

What a fantastic site! I'm so happy I stumbled upon it while
browsing for a new trumpet for my son. I'm located in Chittenango, NY,
a small village just outside of Syracuse. We've visted your beautiful
city of Ottawa twice (summer 2000 and 2001) for the Gloucester
Hornet's soccer tournament. If we'd known you were there, we would
have stopped by!
We were going to get our son a used Bach Strad. After reading about
your ZeuS ZTR800S (and reading between the lines) it appears as though
the ZeuS is the way to go. We are not into name brands if we can get
the same quality in the ZeuS. I do have a friend who plays flute in
the Syracuse Symphony. She asked one of the trumpet players about this
horn. He, of course, had never heard of the ZeuS (no kidding) and
obviously didn't bother to look at your website. He assumes that since
he has never heard of it it must not be any good. Told us to get the
Bach Strad because it's the best and went on and on about how it has
the best resale value. He completely missed the point that we're
interested in quality for the BEST price! Since we have 3 days to try
out this horn I can't wait to see how it stands up to the Bach Strad.
Lucky for me, our neighbor has a Bach Strad so I'll have the real
thing to compare the ZeuS with! I'm assuming it will be hard to tell
the difference. My trumpeter is rather young (10) for a professional
trumpet but we're in a jam because the trumpet he is using belongs to
another family member that has requested it's return for their child
to use. He's going into his 3rd year and is 1st chair in the band so
he's doing pretty well. It appears as though he's going to continue to
play through high school and perhaps, beyond. Since we have to buy him
a horn, we may as well get him the best now (he's pretty responsible
and takes very good care of the old horn he's using now...oiling
often, etc.). I see this trumpet comes with a 5C mouth piece. We may
also be interested in getting our 14 year old the ZeuS 381 alto sax in
silver (looks beautiful) if this trumpet is as good as it sounds!

Alex, Yes, at first we were leery of trying a
not yet famous brand, well, that fear is gone. You keep up this kind
of customer care and craftsmanship and you will be famous. We have
spent the past two days trying the Zeus against a Keilwerth and a

The music teachers and band directors were impressed with the sound
but are all hung up on name brands. Name brand is not one of our

Alex, at first I thought you were just being
overzealous but this Guarnerius is impressive. Everything and more
than what you claimed. Its nice to sometimes get more than what you
had bargained for. Tom, MD Something funny, I told you before ordering
it that I will be showing it to my son's band director. He looked at
it, played it and didn't really know what to say even though I could
tell he was trying very hard to find fault with it. He asked me what
the price was about three times in disbelief and finally did say that
the zipper on the case will eventually break. I think we can live with
that. My coworker at the office, who is a professional trumpet player
by night just loved it and asked to borrow it. He did not see where
the $800 difference was between the ZeuS and his own big name trumpet.

I am a single mom of a 13-yr old middle schooler who is just
starting in band with a trumpet. She loves the instrument, but I have
no musical background; and therefore know nothing about the care and
maintenance of trumpets. When her valve got stuck, we spent several
hours trying to pry it loose with a bottle gripper (no luck as I'm
sure you know). I finally got on the Internet and went through many
sites trying to sell me trumpet maintenance kits before I came to your
site. This is great - what a thorough and honest set of instructions!
I can't thank you enough for putting that out for the public to
access. I also glanced through your pricing on trumpets and couldn't
believe the difference between what you are selling new trumpets for
and what I paid through the band-instrument seller. She has a " King
Model 600" (I hope that means something to you, it's the only name I
could find anywhere). I am paying a total of $970.73, or $703.10 plus
$244.63 in financing over 42 months). Of course, I would lose what I
have been paying so far if I cancel the contract, but what would you
recommend as far as buying a trumpet outright? I do think she will
stick with this - she really enjoys the entire band experience; she is
also learning disabled so I'm hoping this new interest in music will
help her in other areas. Translation: I am willing to buy her a
trumpet, especially if I can save money over the above-mentioned

teacher was able to play it a bit. He said it compared pretty well
with the Yamaha YAS52 and that he thought it was a good value. I

Would like to know what would be the best
trombone to purchase new for a beginning student. Our son will be in
6th grade next year and has always wanted to play the trombone. He

Hello: I am writing to you re. the purchase
of one of your trumpets. We have a son who has been enjoying band at
his Snr PS since Gr6 and will be going into Gr9 and has chosen music
as his option. Although he is not what you wld call a serious player,
he has proved us wrong in his enjoyment (terrific music teacher, also
v. popular, helped this!) and steadily growing committment. He has
always borrowed one of the school's instruments - so I have seen what
happens through school wear and tear - but has to provide his own for
next yr. I have little knowledge about horns, but have learned quite a
lot this past 4-6 wks through my search to get him one. Starting, I
guess as most do, at the bottom of the acquisition end, I have worked
my way up to now buying new. I have called many stores, spoken to some
very knowledgable - and some questionably so - people. It would seem
to be appropriate to look at an intermediate trumpet for him. Then I
found your website, the pages of which I have read so many times over
the past fortnight that I think I could recite them in my sleep!
Obviously, as I am writing to you now, I have been impressed with your
work and committment. And when I look at your prices for your top end
trumpet, it is very close to what I wld pay for an intermediate if I
bought one locally. But I am also very wary, have no-one to really ask
advice about this route to go or trumpet to buy and I guess I am

I plan to purchase the ZeuS tenor sax with a single payment of
$900.00 as advertised. I played the trombone from 5th grade all the
way through college. It came in handy as I received a scholarship in
college. I've searched the internet vigorously for the last 6 weeks
and I keep coming back to your site. You seem to have more information
than most regarding your instruments and I like the fact that the ZTS
650 is made in Europe. I've seen many made in Taiwan but I'm extremely
leery of them. Everything I've researched on the web pales in
comparison, quality and price. I just couldn't find a better quality
instrument anywhere for the price. I look forward to receiving this
sax for my son. He is bouncing off the walls in anticipation. So let's

Hi Alex, Just wanted to let you know that my son's clarinet arrived
yesterday. I am so pleased at the quality. It is everything that you
said that it would be the Zeus ZCL 250 is every bit as good as the
instruments that the other parents are renting-to-own and paying 3
times as much for. It is really funny my son got his instrument a day
after the other kids because I kept putting off ordering until it was
a little bit late. My bad. When his band teacher found out that I was
buying his clarinet off of the internet she told him that she didn't
think it was a very good idea especially since one of the other kid's
parents bought what was supposed to be a new saxaphone off of the
internet and got a badly beaten piece of junk. I feel badly for them
but I also told my son to let all the other kids know where to go to
get a GREAT horn at a very reasonable price. When Odie (my son) took
his clarinet into school today and his teacher saw it she even said
that we did very well and got a nice instrument. Thanks again for

I write for a living, and I have always
wanted to put into the material that I publish what you guys have done
on your website. Yes, most people are idiots, but you come right out
and say it!! I love it! Everyone hates to pay taxes to the government,
no matter where we live. But rarely does one find as keen a sarcastic
wit as yours. I went on-line looking for a source of affordable used
band instruments for my 10-year-old daughter. Not only did I find the
best prices on the net at your site, but also I had a ball reading it.
Very soon, I will be purchasing a used tenor trombone from you. I am

Hello: I am a very satisfied customer, who
purchased a Zeus soprano saxophone last year. That was for me - and I
have been very pleased with it. I would now like to purchase a trumpet
for my daughter. She is 12 years old. She is an intermediate piano
player, and is self motivated. She has just started band in junior
high, and wanted to play the sax. Worried that she would want to play
my Zeus horn, or my Selmer alto, - I suggested the trumpet !! . I have
rented one for this first month - but as you point out ongoing rental
ends up being more costly than a purchase. So I would like to buy one
before I pay for the next months rental. She is enjoying the trumpet
(and so am I ), and I expect that she is likely to continue playing at
